1. The Jak App (Free Software)

The Jak desktop application is free, open-source software licensed under the Apache License 2.0.

  • You may use, modify, and distribute Jak freely
  • The software is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind
  • We are not liable for any damages arising from use of the software

2. .jak Files (Your Property)

Your .jak personality files are your property. We claim no rights to:

  • The contents of your .jak files
  • Any personality data you create or import
  • Your conversation history or AI interactions

You are free to share, sell, or distribute your .jak files as you see fit.

3. Dragon API (Paid Services)

Dragon API is a subscription-based service. By using Dragon API, you agree to:

3.1 Account Requirements

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must provide a valid email address
  • You are responsible for maintaining account security

3.2 Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Dragon API to:

  • Generate illegal content
  • Harass, abuse, or harm others
  • Distribute malware or spam
  • Attempt to circumvent usage limits
  • Resell API access without permission
  • Violate any applicable laws

3.3 Fair Usage Limits

Each Dragon API tier includes fair usage limits (e.g., 300 messages/day for Dragon AI). These are soft limits designed to ensure service quality for all users.

  • Exceeding limits may result in temporary throttling
  • We do not impose hard caps or surprise charges
  • Persistent abuse may result in account suspension

3.4 Billing

  • All subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe
  • You may cancel anytime; access continues until the end of your billing period
  • Refunds are provided at our discretion for billing errors
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice

4. Community MCP Plugins

Jak supports community-built MCP plugins. Please note:

  • Third-party plugins are not created or endorsed by us
  • We are not responsible for plugin functionality or security
  • Use third-party plugins at your own risk
  • Plugin developers are responsible for their own terms

5. Intellectual Property

  • "Jak" and "JakGPT" are trademarks of Dragonfire Technology Ltd
  • The Jak app source code is licensed under Apache 2.0
  • Website content is copyrighted unless otherwise noted
  • You may not use our trademarks without permission

6. Disclaimers

No Warranty. The Jak app and Dragon API are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

AI Limitations. AI responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. Do not rely on Jak for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions.

Service Availability. Dragon API is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee uptime or availability.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dragonfire Technology Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Jak or Dragon API.

8. Termination

  • You may stop using Jak or cancel Dragon API at any time
  • We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
  • We may discontinue services with reasonable notice

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be announced via the app or email.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of England.
